With our country joining the race of development, the air conditioners are becoming the need of every house hold. This assembly consists of different parts, the most important of all is said to the air condition filter. This helps in keeping the air conditioner clean from inside of the assembly.

However, this appliance cleaning part of air conditioner needs maintenance and timely cleaning. Generally, frequent wear and tear of the filters make the overall cost of the appliance quite high. Here is a method one can use to make my air filters last a lot longer.

Before we proceed for any adjustments, repairs etc., make sure that the power supply to the air conditioner is cut off. Then the location of the ventilation duct, where the filters are fitted be traced. These are either located on the wall or the ceiling of the unit.

For filters that are installed on the ceiling needs to be removed for it’s cleaning. In order to reach up to the filter, you have to open the hatch which is further fastened with two latches. Just unfasten the latches and open the hatch. Having opened the hatch, gradually take out the filter. No need to detach the filter if they are installed on the walls.

Make use of a vacuum cleaner. Just plug in the hose and run the appliance on the air filter. You will be surprised how much dust one air filter can collect. After vacuuming the entire surface you should see a big difference in the appearance of your air filter. Instead of a dusty gray it should be a shade of blue and somewhat translucent.

After having cleaned the filter, it must be ensured the there is no dirt or the dust remaining on it. We should place the filter back at its place and screw the latches and the hatch properly.

People often neglect to maintain and clean their air conditioning filters and wonder why their air conditioner always fails after a while or it takes longer and longer to cool their rooms. Don’t make that mistake. Proper maintenance of air conditioning filters can help you save more money in the long run.

In case the cleaning of the filters is not taken care of, it will have an adverse effect on the compressor of the unit and we may have to change the compressor that will tell on our budget.
