UPVC windows, also known as double glazed, are becoming a more common feature in newly built homes. For those who have had their homes for a while, it may seem impossible to get them installed. This is not true. You can have these energy efficient windows installed in your home.

These specially made windows provide a lot of protection from the elements outside. They keep the cold out in the winter, and heat stays put in the summer. The windows are designed using two panes of glass instead of just one. In between the two panes there is pocket of air. It is a few inches thick. It acts as an insulator.

Having them put into your house is as easy as getting any other window added. You need to know where to search. Doing a little bit of homework is required, but easy as well.

Start locally. If you are living in a neighborhood with fairly new housing, you need only ask the owners where they got their windows. Maybe it’s even easier than that. Ask a friend who has recently upgraded. They will be able to give you some idea of where to go get your windows ordered.

Alternately, check the phone book. With the rise in popularity, several companies have cropped up to help homeowners get these windows into their homes. To understand what each company is offering, meet with a few of them. Sometimes, this first meeting will lead to two with the right company.

The first meeting allows you to get to know the company’s policies, and see what they are offering. Take the time out to go through their showroom if they have one. Try and describe to the representative what you are looking to put into your home. They will be able to give you some ideas to help further your vision. They may even quote you.

During the second meeting with your chosen company, let them come to your home. They will need to make measurements in order to give you an accurate quote. Get all of the agreements you may make in writing. This will protect you in the long run. Arrange a time for the installation to begin and end. Before the representative leaves, take a business card or a phone number of contact in case of further questions.

The time it takes for installation greatly depends on the number of windows you are ordering. Generally speaking, the entire job can be done in an eight hour day. If there is more complicated window, it might take a little bit longer. Be prepared for setbacks.

When the job is complete to your standards, thank the company by offering to take a few of their business cards to pass around to friends. Smaller companies will always appreciate free publicity if they can get it. Give them the payment you agreed upon. All that you have left to do now is enjoy the ease of knowing you will be saving money in the extreme seasons.
