Snowboard During The Off Season
Snowboarding is a great activity to take part of in the winter. During the winter months you can enjoy the snow and the chilly outdoors by carving and bombing down the slopes.
As winter turns into spring, snowboarders head off of the slopes and put their snowboards away until the months roll away and winter is back again. Everything they worked on that winter will be put on hold, and their skills will become rusty as they wait for winter to come back.
To help your skills stay fresh, and not turn moldy during the off season now you can continue to hone your skills after the snow has long been gone. This off season sport for snowboarders is called mountainboarding, and it is an excellent training tool to use when winter has gone.
Mountainboarding is similar to skateboarding or longboarding except it has large inflatable tires that allow it to easily ride over rougher terrain. You can ride it on grass, dirt, gravel, packed sand, and pavement. It will easily roll over small rocks and sticks.
Most mountainboards will have foot straps that are either the kind that you can just step into without having your feet locked in, or they are like snowboard bindings in that they lock your feet in.
Why is it a good off season training tool? For starters, when the snow leaves, you can keep on riding the slopes in the spring, summer and fall months. Normally you would have to wait to have fun until winter, but this way you can enjoy the spring, summer, and fall months.
Many snowboarders interested in the freestyle aspect of snowboarding, spend their time learning tricks. When the off season comes all that they learned is put on hold until the snow comes back. When they get back on board, many find that the new tricks they learned are a little harder to pull of at first because of the long break they took during the off season. Mountainboarding helps you stay sharp.
The bottom line is that a mountainboard can be an excellent tool for learning new tricks, and staying sharp in the off season. A mountainboard can be taken off of jumps, used on rails, and you can pull off all sorts of freestyle tricks and practice new ones. Dirt and grass aren’t the same as snow, but at least this way you get to have fun in the spring, summer, and fall months doing something other than getting rusty.
A mountainboard is a fantastic way to keep on riding after the snow has melted. Instead of voiding yourself of any fun during the off season, I recommend that you check out one of these and try it out.
