The Beatles are definitely not a “best of” type of band. You can’t order just Beatles 1 and be done with the most influential band ever. In actuality, think the majority of their best tunes were not their big hits but were instead their more experimental tunes such as “I Am The Walrus.”

To really understand The Beatles music you must listen to their albums completely instead of just hearing the greatest hits. I think that the Fab Four made many of the greatest rock albums ever and even their not so fantastic albums (like Beatles for Sale) have quite a few great recordings.

That’s why I believe it’s such a fantastic idea to Buy The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set. It includes every single LP (and every single with the Past Masters double CD set) that The Beatles recorded and released in the 1960s.

In other words it contains pretty much all of their officially released recordings except for Live at the BBC CDs and the three Anthology sets. This makes sense because those releases really aren’t a part of the “official catalog” of the band. They are sort of like the “special features” on a DVD rather than the main film.

There are a few more Beatles CDs that are not included in the box set, for example there’s 1999 release called Yellow Submarine Songtrack that’s entirely different from the original Yellow Submarine album. It is actually far better in my opinion and definitely worth hearing for it’s alternate mixes. Let It Be… Naked and Love are not included either.

As well as The Beatles Stereo Box Set, I recommend that you Buy The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set which includes the the mono versions of their albums up through The White Album. It may be difficult to really understand today, but when the “Fab Four” were mixing their recordings they thought the mono version to be of much more importance than the stereo mixes up until their last two albums were were recorded only in stereo.

The Beatles Remastered Vinyl LPs are what many Beatles fans are waiting for next. They are rumored to be coming out sometime in 2010. For Beatles fans who want to make their own music at home, the REAPER DAW is recommended.

Beatles Memorabilia Much In Demand And Difficult To Come Across

The Beatles became a world wide phenomenon in the 1960s the world went Beatles Mania crazy. Young girls would shed tears of joy when they heard them play and young men would strive to be just like them. The Beatles and their music continue to be in the hearts of many. Beatles Memorabilia is the prized possession many fans continue to seek.

The Beatles were well known to their fellow locals of Liverpool where they are still considered to be an icon. The city has a museum dedicated to the history of their career. Here you will find many unique artifacts never before seen and a load of historical information about what made them a global phenomenon.

They were famous for playing in the Cavern Club a couple of hundred times. The club where the Beatles made their mark has be renovated, however, there continues to be Beatles in the air at the Cavern Club. They have maintained the memorabilia scattered throughout the club.

If in Liverpool one of the most do Beatles adventures is the Magical Mystery Tour. This tour has the most interesting facts and trivia relating to the band. They escort you on a duplicated Beatles tour bus to the places where they were known to play as well as the streets where their childhood homes are. Which means this is your chance to go to Strawberry Field and Penny Lane.

Scattered throughout Liverpool are numerous boutiques and shops with Beatles merchandise. Often times in the little out of the way shops you can find unusual and historical items. This group made the city of Liverpool proud of them; however, they made a major impact on millions around the globe. Their music stood out and made them who they were. Finding pieces of merchandise from where they originated is most definitely worth the time to explore the small out of the way shops.

The Beatles were admired by millions throughout the world and the Beatles Memorabilia is as popular now as it was then. There are many items that can be found through online auctions it is important to be cautious on what you bid on, if you think an item is authentic, verify before bidding that it is not a reproduction. Many great finds are discovered at estate sales. Remember to explore the numerous Beatles historical sites if you make a trip to Liverpool.

If you choose to do both times, have the decorations different in a few rooms. It will give your guests the feeling of moving through time. The fifties room should have a lot of records, pink and black streamers, as well as Elvis music. The hippie era was an outside loving group of individuals so if weather permits give them run of the deck and yard. This group loves Beatles Memorabilia and brightly colored decorations.

If you love rock-n-role from the good old days, then we know you are in love with James Paul McCartney, John Ono Lennon and George Harrison (Ringo Star). We collect Beatles memorabilia and have quite a few rare Beatles albums available for purchase.

The Beatles USB is The Beatles Stereo Box Set in MP3

For what seems like forever Beatles fans have been longing for The Beatles legendary albums to be made available to download as mp3s so that their recordings could be put onto a Zune or an iPod easily. As of early 2010, the lads from Liverpool are not available to be purchased as downloads but there is a very cool thing called The Beatles USB which holds all of the new 2009 Beatles remastered stereo albums as mp3s.

The Beatles USB includes everything that is in The Beatles in Stereo Box Set except in a much more portable format! With this tiny memory stick you will be able to easily carry The Beatles entire catalog around with you wherever you go in your in your back pocket.

When I write that the flash drive includes everything in the stereo box set, I absolutely do mean everything. It even includes the previously unreleased photographs and the new liner notes. It also contains the short documentaries on the making of each album on the DVD in the box set.

But there’s more, this USB flash drive also includes FLAC files in 24bit which are higher quality sound files than the files on CDs. The files on CDs are only 16bit, these FLAC files are 24bit. This truly makes this flash drive a “must have” for any audiophile Beatles fan who wants to have these timeless songs in the highest quality available.

One negative aspect is that this flash drive doesn’t include the original mono mixes that are in The Beatles in Mono Box Set. If you want to hear the classic mono versions then you will have to purchase the CD box set (at least for now.)

Personally I bought both of the box and the memory stick because I am a a true Beatles freak, of course not everyone has the money to spend on music (even when the music as great as this is.) If you’re on a tight budget then you will have to consider how you most commonly listen to your music. Do you play CDs or do you play music on your computer and on your mp3 player? If it is the latter then the USB flash drive is probably what you really desire.

The Beatles Mono Box Set is an important part of any serious Beatles fans collection. Read this Beatles Centric Music Blog for the latest on the greatest band of all time.

The Beatles Second Record: With The Beatles (1963)

1963’s With The Beatles is not my favorite Beatles album, in fact I think it’s arguably their least good non Yellow Submarine studio album. But that’s not to imply I don’t thoroughly enjoy hearing this early album in it’s 2009 fabulous remastered format nor is it to imply that this album doesn’t have any good songs on it because I do and it does.

I do think that when looking only at the 8 Beatles originals on the LP, it’s probably the worst collection of original songs the Fab Four ever put out on a record (the very underrated Beatles For Sale (1964) has a far better selection of eight originals) on the other hand, the covers on With The Beatles are pretty good (better than the covers on Beatles For Sale.)

My favorite original songs to listen to on the With The Beatles Remastered CDs (stereo and mono) are the first three tracks: “It Won’t Be Long,” “All I’ve Got To Do,” and “All My Loving.” Particularly, I have been loving song number two, “All I’ve Got To Do” in mono. It sounds wonderful.

Another original song that has actually been making an impression on me is track #9, “Hold Me Tight.” McCartney wrote and sang lead vocals on this one and he’s dismissed it as being an album filler. And while I’ll agree the song isn’t perfect, I do think it is a good time.

“Till There Was You” is my favorite cover on the album. It is a very cheesy sickly sweet love song and while I feel I shouldn’t like it, I do anyway. The record’s final track, “Money” is an excellent way to end the album. When I listen closely to the remastered mono version I actually hear the song as much more unhinged than I realized. It rocks pretty darn hard.

In general I prefer the stereo mixes (particularly with the mid to late 60s albums) when it comes to the 2009 Beatles remasters but I do think that this particular album sounds better in mono than in stereo.

Beatles For Sale - An Under Appreciated Beatles Album

Beatles For Sale (1964) is a frequently overlooked Beatles album (as overlooked as any Beatles album can be anyway.) I think that is a real shame because while it’s undoubtedly not among The Beatles greatest studio albums, it does have some good qualities and I do think it is worth taking a close listen to.

Particularly I think the 8 original Lennon/McCartney songs on the album are very good (if not quite as good as the originals on Help! and A Hard Day’s Night) What really stands out about these eight originals is that they’ve got a special connected feeling to them. I think they’d work well as an EP. In fact, I normally just skip all of the covers so that I listen to the album as if it were an 8 song EP.

The album really starts off great with John Lennon’s “No Reply,” “I’m A Loser,” & “Baby’s In Black.” These are three good tracks and all of them have this dark introspective mood that connects the tracks together wonderfully.

I’m not a huge fan of the covers on this album, unfortunately. Even more unfortunately is that these covers make up almost half of the LP (6 of the 14 songs are cover songs.) The only covers that I have any patience for are “Words of Love” and “Rock and Roll Music” However even those are not as good as The Beatles originals.

The most famous of those Beatles originals on the album is probably “Eight Days A Week” which is a song that both John and Paul said negative things about (they wrote it together) and they never played it live, not even once. However despite that, it is a good tune. No, it isn’t among their best work, however it is catchy and the fade-in is really cool.

All of the tracks on the album sound far better on the new digitally remastered discs than they did on the old CDs. I strongly recommend that you order The Beatles Stereo Box Set and The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set and give both the stereo and mono versions of this album a good listen before you go about your day.

Harold Oliver Quesenberry is excited about the expected release of The Beatles Remastered Vinyl so he can buy them to go along with his box sets and his Beatles USB Memory Stick.

The Beatles Remasters Are Coming To Vinyl In 2010

Many music lovers believe that vinyl records are the most ultimate way to enjoy an album. These people believe there is a magic to seeing the black circle rotate and knowing that the amazing sound you’re listening to is coming from a needle in the record’s groove.

It’s this “magic feeling” (to quote The Beatles) that has Beatles fans extremely excited about the strong possibility of The Beatles remasters making their way onto vinyl in in March of 2010. Although as of this moment no date for release has been set, it is believed that Apple (The Beatles Apple, not the computer company) is working on a vinyl release of The Beatles remastered stereo mixes (but it’s not known if the mono versions will also be made available on vinyl.)

The Beatles LPs that are currently available were pressed using the not so great’87 remasters so these 2010 vinyl LPs should be as improved in sound quality as the new compact discs are in comparison to the ‘87 compact discs (and, by the way, I definitely recommend listening to these new CDs if you haven’t yet.

I am definitely planning on ordering The Beatles Remastered Vinyl Box as soon as it is available to buy (I’m positive it’ll sell out very quickly) despite the fact that I’ve already bought all of these 2009 remasters on CD (and on The Beatles USB.)

According to the reports that I have seen, the remastered Beatles vinyl will be available both individually and in a vinyl box set The current rumored date for release is in March of 2010 but there is a very good chance that won’t end up as the final release date.

In the meantime I strongly recommend that you buy The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set and The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set. They both sound wonderful. I personally end up listening to stereo box set more commonly (as I just like hearing music in stereo more than music mixed in mono, in general) but the mono mixes are very interesting.

The Beatles 2009 Remasters

The Beatles UK studio LPs were originally remastered digitally for compact disc in the’80s at that time digital mastering was still a relatively new art and since then plenty has been found out about how to remaster more effectively but even more important is the incredible rate in technological advance over the past 20 years.

The many movements forward in technology and all of the know how learned on how to best remaster digitally have been put to very good use with the remastered Beatles releases of 2009. On September 9, 2009 The Beatles released both The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set and The Beatles Mono Box Set. And both box sets sound great. If you’ve yet to hear ‘em, I recommend you get your hands on The Beatles remasters as soon as you can.

Which flavor of remastered Beatles should a fan order? Well for this Beatles fan the answer was, without a doubt, “all of them” but if you can only choose one you will most likely want to go with the Beatles in Stereo because it includes all of their studio LPs and most casual fans really do prefer listening to the stereo mixes in comparison to the mono mixes.

The Beatles in Mono is more for serious Beatles fans who want to hear all of the differences between the stereo & mono mixes (and sometimes they are very different from each other) and for fans who want to listen to the lads from Liverpool how they originally heard them (this obviously applies to the original fans who were there for The Beatles in the flesh back in the 60s.)

On December 8th there will be a 3rd choice: The Beatles USB Memory Stick. This USB flash drive includes The Beatles in Stereo Box Set in a little thing that fits in the palm of my hand. How cool is that? It contains all of the albums in two formats; high quality mp3s and better than CD quality 24bit FLAC.

It’s the “better than CD quality” part is what will bring in a good amount of audiophiles but for most listeners it’s the 320kbps mp3s that’ll be most interesting.

Harold Laurence Quesenberry recommends this Beatles Store for all of your Beatles shopping needs. There’s plenty of other Beatles stuff available besides The Beatles Mono & Stereo Remastered Box Sets.

The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set in The Beatles USB

The Beatles are one of very few groups who have not made their music available for online download. At this point I’m not sure that any other major label band hasn’t done it.

When the announcement was made that The Beatles music was going to come out in mp3 format most people just guessed that it meant that they were going to be sold as downloads but that is not true, instead The Beatles USB will contain The Beatles entire’60s stereo catalog.

This Beatles USB memory stick includes The Beatles Stereo Box Set except clearly in a far different form than the CDs and DVD included in the box set. This Beatles USB stick that you can hold in your hand includes all of the same music and all of the same visual elements as the much larger box set.

The USB includes all of the Beatles stereo remasters in the box set twice because it holds both 320kbps mp3s and 44.1kHz/24bit FLACs. I am certain you are familiar with mp3s (and the 320kbps mp3s in this USB are of very high quality) but how about those 24bit FLAC files, what are they all about? Essentially these FLAC files are considered to be “lossless” which means there is not a loss of sound quality like with mp3s or other “lossy” formats. And because these FLACs are 24bit instead of the 16bit files that are contained on CDs, they are of better quality than CDs.

This means that The Beatles USB memory stick now contains the best quality versions of The Beatles stereo remasters! Of course, that might change if there is a DVD or Blu-Ray release in the works but at the moment this is the big cheese for audiophiles as far as The Beatles remasters.

How about the mono mixes? Unfortunately they are not included on this USB memory stick. You still have to get The Beatles in Mono Box Set to hear the mono mixes.

Learning to Sing with Beatles Rock Band

If you’re anything like I am then you don’t spend time playing video games. Personally, I’m not into them at all. In my opinon they are a complete waste of time. So why am I spending my time writing about this video game? Because to me The Beatles Rock Band (and to a lesser extent the other Rock Band games) is something well beyond just a game, it is a real interactive musical experience.

I’m not talking about the guitar part of the game. I actually think the guitar part of the game is really lame because it has next to nothing to do with playing a real guitar and very little to do with the music. It has zilch to do with playing guitar because playing real guitar is about 1000 times more complex than simply pressing a few buttons and it has little to do with the songs because I have found that the changes in the game rarely change in time with any musical changes in the songs.

The drumming and the singing parts of the game are what I find really interesting and important. Both of these parts of the game have a direct relationship to really doing these things “in real life” and they are also both obviously related to the music that you’re performing

If you sing the song in tune and with the right timing then you’ll do well. It’s true that you do not have to sing the lyrics (you can just hum) but I don’t think that’s a big deal. What is essential is the timing and hitting the right notes. I think Beatles Rock Band Video Game is actually an excellent to improve your singing ability. More so than the other rock band games because it also includes harmonies.

When you do the drumming on the expert level you are really hitting every single drum hit that’s in the real recording! No, it’s not exactly like playing a real drum set, but it is close enough to be pretty effective for practicing. There have even been cases of people moving directly from Rock Band drums into playing a real drum set with barely a hitch in the transition.

I definitely recommend The Beatles Rock Band Video Game an excellent gift for any big Beatles lover along with (obviously) The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set and The Beatles Mono Box Set.

Harold Kenneth Quesenberry’s Favorite Music Blog includes a lot of articles on The Beatles.

2009: Remastered Beatles in Stereo Box Set

The Beatles Stereo Remastered Box Set was released in September of 2009 it immediately became the standard for The Beatles discography.

These new stereo versions sound far superior to the old discs from the late’80s. When comparing the remastered CDs to the older discs it’s like the old discs are under a pile of wet towels while the new discs sound warm and clear so that all of the instrumentation and vocals punch through the mix instead of being swallowed up by whats around them.

The Beatles Stereo Remastered Box Set isn’t the only Beatles box set that came out in September of ‘09 but it is the most popular since it can be enjoyed by the biggest set of Beatles fans. The Remastered Beatles in Mono Box Set is great too but it appeals mostly to purists who need to hear the’60s mono mixes (and compare them to the stereo mixes) than to an classic rock fan. Although there are definitely songs that sound better in mono than in stereo (particularly some of the pre Magical Mystery Tour recordings) all things considered I believe the stereo CD set does sound most fab.

The fab thing about The Beatles in Stereo Remastered CD Box Set is that it lets you to get The Beatles entire ‘62-’70 discography with just one purchase and when one considers the high quality of most of their albums, it makes sense to order all of The Beatles albums at one time instead of buying some and then getting more later.

As well as the great albums included in this box set there are some awesome visual elements, the- mini documentary (for each studio album) DVD is the most obvious. Along with this documentary DVD there are extensive liner notes for each CD (there is some excellent information in there, particularly for fans who are new to the group) and some great previously unpublished pictures.

I’m such a big fan of The Beatles that I’ve got (or I plan on getting) The Beatles in Stereo Box Set, The Beatles in Mono Box, The Beatles USB Stick, and The Beatles Rock Band Video Game. But if I had to choose just one of these things, it would have to be the stereo box because it’s the best representation of The Beatles music and after all, it’s their classic albums that is the most important.

David Quincy Jackson believes that you should Buy The Beatles in Stereo Box Set because it sounds amazing. He also strongly recommends picking up The Beatles Mono Box Set for a complete Beatles collection.
